Saint Mary’s Hospital Names New Chief of Cardiology
WATERBURY, Conn. (June 17, 2014) ─ Dr. Paul F. Kelly has been appointed the new Chief of Cardiology and Medical Director of Cardiac Services at Saint Mary’s Hospital.
Dr. Kelly has been a member of Saint Mary’s Medical Staff since 1996 and is currently in practice with Dr. Peter Chien and Dr. Rebecca Scandrett in Franklin Medical Group—Cardiology, an affiliate of Saint Mary’s Hospital.
Dr. Kelly holds a bachelor’s degree in American Government from Georgetown University and received his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine. He completed his residency in internal medicine and a cardiovascular fellowship at the University of Rochester – Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, N.Y.
Dr. Kelly is Chairman of the Saint Mary’s Hospital Foundation Board of Directors. He also serves as Chairman of the Cardiac Quality Work Group and has been named a “Champion” by the American Heart Association for his stewardship in the Get With The Guidelines quality improvement program. A Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, he served as a Councilor with the ACC’s Connecticut Chapter. In addition, Dr. Kelly is Director of Malta House of Care – Waterbury, which delivers free primary care services to uninsured patients in Waterbury. He and his wife, Karen, live in Newtown.
