Saint Mary’s Making Strides for Breast Cancer

WATERBURY, Conn. (October 16, 2014) ─ Saint Mary’s Hospital is taking the first step in helping the American Cancer Society finish the fight against breast cancer. A team of 50 physicians, nurses, survivors and staff will participate in the Brass City’s first ever Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K event. At the starting line will be Saint Mary’s three breast surgeons—Dr. Beth Sieling, Dr. Nicole Sookhan and Dr. Ellen Polokoff—who will cut the ribbon as the event officially begins.

Check It, Test It and Cure It

Making Strides for Breast Cancer is intended to raise awareness about breast cancer and the American Cancer Society’s efforts to provide support and find a cure. Last year, nearly 1.2 million people in nearly 300 communities walked together for Making Strides.

Registration begins at 11 a.m. and the walk starts at 1 p.m. in Library Park, 267 Grand St., Waterbury. If you go, be sure to look for Team Saint Mary’s in their custom pink t-shirts. They’ll have some great giveaways under the tent near the start/finish line! For more information about Making Strides, visit www.MakingStridesWalk.org/WaterburyCT.
