Saint Mary’s Launches New Health
Series, “Por Su Salud,” on Univision

WATERBURY, Conn. (May 19, 2015) ─ Saint Mary’s Health System will introduce “Por Su Salud,” a new series of health programs that will air starting this Wednesday on the top-ranked Univision television network. The first program in the series, which focuses on wound care and was filmed in Spanish, will air during “Despierate America” from 8 to 9 a.m. “Por Su Salud” will be featured across all cable networks in Connecticut. On Frontier Communications, it will air on Channel 5. For all others, including Cox Cable, Direct TV, Dish Network, Comcast, Cablevision and Charter Communications, it will air on Channel 18.

Saint Mary’s spokesperson for “Por Su Salud” is Dr. Alexander Alvarez of Primary Care Partners in Prospect. Dr. Alvarez is board certified in internal medicine and certified in wound and hyperbaric medicine. A specialist with Saint Mary’s Wound Healing Center, he is fluent in Spanish and English, and speaks advanced Portuguese and conversational Italian.

Dr. Alvarez holds Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees in modern languages and psychology/education from Central Connecticut State University. He received his medical degree from the Universidad Tecnologicia de Santiago in Santo Domingo, graduating summa cum laude. He completed two years of residency in general surgery followed by three years of residency in internal medicine at Saint Mary’s Hospital. He has been a member of Saint Mary’s medical staff since 1990.

Additional segments of “Por Su Salud” will focus on general diabetes, asthma, high blood pressure, weight loss surgery, and Saint Mary’s overall surgical capabilities.
