Healthy Eating on the Go? “It’s in the Bag!”

WATR Radio Show Offers Nutrition Tips to Help You Eat Healthier

WATERBURY, Conn. (March 9, 2016) ─ Ready to break out of your worst food habits and brown bag it? Bringing your own lunch or meals “to go” can help to cut costs and keep you and your family healthy. Though it’s easy to turn to restaurants, fast-food joints or cafeterias, the portion sizes and extras (hello, French fries) are incredibly fattening. Eating this kind of fare routinely can be unhealthy and expensive. Lunch can cost upwards of $10 per day, while that morning latte can be $4 or more, and it adds up quickly.

Packing your own food gives you control over ingredients, portions, and your budget. The hardest part may be deciding what to make and which food choices will give you the energy to get through your day.

To learn how to make the healthier lunches, and shop smarter for your family, tune in to WATR 1320 AM this Friday, March 11, at 9:30 a.m., for “It’s in the Bag,” a live radio interview with Nowen Beebe, MS, RD, CDN, Outpatient Dietitian at Saint Mary’s Hospital. Beebe will talk with host Robin Sills, RN, Physician Liaison, Saint Mary’s Hospital, about nutrition and tips for how to maintain a healthier weight. She will also take calls from listeners about how to eat healthier on the go.

Saint Mary’s Spirit of Women network is sponsoring the live, 30-minute program as part of the “Medically Speaking” series on WATR. Listen at 1320 AM or stream it at Call the studio line at 203-757-1320 with your questions during the show.
