Three Carat Diamond Earrings to be Featured at Saint Mary’s 2016 Gala

WATERBURY, Conn. (January 21, 2016) – One lucky winner at the Saint Mary’s Hospital Foundation’s 25th Annual Gala will walk away with a pair of spectacular diamond stud earrings. The earrings will feature three carat total weight round brilliant-cut diamonds set in classic white gold settings and were generously donated by Onyx II Fine Jewelers of Watertown.

“When it comes to fine jewelry, I think diamond studs are every woman’s aspirational piece. There are very few women who don’t want them,” said Daniel Sanchez, owner of Onyx II, which is family owned and celebrating 45 years in business.

Onyx II has been a longtime supporter of Saint Mary’s Hospital Foundation and the annual Gala and has generously donated a diamond worth $25,000 to the 2015 Gala. – One lucky winner at the Saint Mary’s Hospital Foundation’s 25th Annual Gala will walk away with a pair of spectacular diamond stud earrings.

“When it comes to fine jewelry, I think diamond studs are every woman’s aspirational piece. There are very few women who don’t want them,” said Daniel Sanchez, owner of Onyx II, which is family owned and celebrating 45 years in business. The shop, located at 683 Main Street in Watertown, specializes in custom design and only the best diamond and gemstone sources.

Onyx II has been a longtime supporter of Saint Mary’s Hospital Foundation, its annual Dorothy Hamill Women Fore Women Golf Tournament, Champion Golf Classic and the annual Gala. In 2015, Onyx II generously donated a diamond valued at $25,000 to the Saint Mary’s Gala.

This year, Sanchez said he and Onyx II’s creative director, James Michael Murphy, who is also a member of the Saint Mary’s Hospital Foundation Gala Committee, wanted to do something different and decided to offer a winner’s choice of the diamond earrings or a $25,000 gift certificate toward the purchase of one custom piece, including a private shopping and design experience at Onyx II.

“While diamond studs are a beautiful, extraordinary luxury, they also can be worn daily. It’s not something you have to save for a special occasion,” Sanchez said.

“We are so blessed to have this incredible partnership with Onyx II. It’s something charitable organizations dream of having,” said Carrie McMahon, Executive Director of Saint Mary’s Hospital Foundation. “It is our goal to raise $25,000 from the Extraordinary Jewelry raffle, and that money stays local. It helps us to provide the best of comfort and care to our patients and their families--individuals who live and work right here in our community.”

Saint Mary’s Hospital Foundation will host its 25th Annual Gala, “An Evening of Extraordinary Things,” on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville.
