Saint Mary’s Hospital Wins National Spirit of Women Award

WATERBURY, Conn. (September 30, 2016) ─ Saint Mary’s Hospital was selected as the recipient of the national 2016 Gallery of Pride Award at the Spirit of Women National Executive Meeting held in Miami. Of 107 Spirit member hospitals, 50 submitted entries for this year’s award. Saint Mary’s Hospital was selected by the Spirit Executive Team as one of five finalists. Barbara White, Marketing Manager, and Kathryn Walker, Community Outreach and Project Coordinator, presented at the conference, where Saint Mary’s was chosen as the winner by the Spirit members in attendance.

Photo of Saint Mary's Spirit of Women team membersSince it was established in 2015, Saint Mary’s Spirit of Women network has exceeded expectations, growing to 1,500 members representing 71 towns, attracting more than 2,319 attendees to its seven sold-out events, spotlighting more than 15 service lines and 60 physicians, and engaging its audience through monthly radio programs resulting in more than 427 podcast listens.

The next Saint Mary’s Hospital Spirit of Women event is “Tame Type II,” which will focus on the prevention and treatment of Type II Diabetes.
