New Class Provides Support, Strategies for Moms Returning to Work

WATERBURY, Conn. (January 26, 2016) ─ The Women and Infants Center at Saint Mary’s Hospital is offering a new class for mothers who wish to continue breastfeeding after they return to work. The two-hour class is led by Michelle Jose, BSN, RN, IBCLC, Lactation Consultant, and offered once a month on Tuesdays from 1 to 3 p.m. The next class is scheduled for Tuesday, February 16. Participants are invited to bring their babies to class.

“We talk about pumping, going back to work and maintaining your milk supply,” said Jose, who works with participants to develop strategies so they can continue to be successful at breastfeeding while resuming work. Participants will learn how to educate child care providers about the proper storage and feeding of breast milk. “The moms who have come to it have said it is really beneficial. It’s also a way to offer some support for moms who are breastfeeding and need to return to work.”

The cost is $35 per class. For more information or to register, go to and click on “Maternity,” or call 203-709-6184.
