Saint Mary’s Primary Care and Urgent Care Center Now Open in Cheshire

WATERBURY, Conn. (October 14, 2016) ─ Saint Mary’s Hospital has opened a new Primary Care and Urgent Care Center, located at 1154 Highland Avenue in Cheshire.

Franklin Medical Group - Primary Care in Cheshire is staffed by John Testa, MD, who is board certified in internal medicine and currently serves as medical director of Franklin Medical Group. A native of Wolcott, Dr. Testa graduated cum laude from Quinnipiac University and received his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine/primary care at the University of Connecticut. Dr. Testa has maintained a primary care practice in Prospect and has been a member of Saint Mary’s Hospital Medical Staff since 2002. His clinical areas of interest include diabetes, metabolic syndrome and preventive health maintenance.

Dr. Testa is joined by Rabia Cheema, MD, who specializes in internal medicine. Her clinical areas of expertise are diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia and preventative care. Dr. Cheema graduated from the University of Wisconsin and earned her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine. She completed her internship and residency at Saint Mary’s Hospital and is a member of the American College of Physicians.

Saint Mary’s new facility also features specialty physicians and a dedicated Urgent Care Center, providing expert, certified care for injuries and illnesses that are urgent but not life-threatening. Urgent Care services include flu shots, digital X-rays, laboratory services, such as routine blood draw, EKGs, immunizations and vaccinations, school, sports and camp physicals, nebulizer treatments, care for falls, sprains, broken bones, burns and cuts requiring sutures, pediatric care for fever, respiratory infections, strep throat and ear infections, treatment of work-related injuries and common medical concerns such as sinus infections, pneumonia, tick bites and skin conditions.
