Connecticut Children’s - Waterbury

Connecticut Children’s—Waterbury brings the pediatric expertise of Connecticut Children’s Medical Center (CCMC) in Hartford to the Greater Waterbury community, so that your child (and you) will feel better fast. Conveniently located on the 4th floor of Saint Mary’s Hospital, the 12-bed unit is staffed by board-certified physicians, specialists, and other professionals who are dedicated to providing compassionate inpatient care to your child. This caring team of experts is ready to address a wide range of medical concerns including infectious diseases, cardiology, surgery, allergies, and more.

Tips for Your Visit

  • Families are encouraged to visit their children, and are welcome to stay overnight.
  • For the security of our patients, all visitors will need to use the intercom when entering or leaving the unit. 
  • Visitors are asked to wash their hands before entering and exiting the unit.
  • You will find many amenities within the hospital including a gift shop, several eateries, and our chapel.

Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center

Established in 1995 through a joint venture partnership between Saint Mary’s Hospital and Waterbury Hospital, the Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center is a freestanding, outpatient facility that provides comprehensive cancer care to the Waterbury community. Located at 1075 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, CT, the Leever Center has two highly respected private medical oncology practices and three board-certified radiation oncologists on site. They, along with a team of caring staff, provide cancer prevention, detection, treatment and survivorship services utilizing the latest protocols and most advanced equipment.

Heart Center of Greater Waterbury

Over a decade ago Saint Mary’s Hospital, Waterbury Hospital and the University of Connecticut Health Center established the Heart Center of Greater Waterbury to ensure that all Greater Waterbury residents have access to advanced cardiac services, including angioplasty and open heart surgery.

Care is provided in state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization labs and open heart surgery suites by experienced interventional cardiologists and cardiothoracic surgeons as part of a full-range of cardiac services at Saint Mary’s Hospital.

VITAS Inpatient Hospice Unit

In 2011, VITAS Innovative Hospice Care® opened a state-of-the-art, 12-bed Inpatient Hospice Unit on the 4th floor of Saint Mary’s Hospital to provide hospice care in a comfortable, tranquil and homelike environment.

The VITAS Inpatient Hospice Unit at Saint Mary’s Hospital is a unique option that allows patients to remain close to home, and their families, as they near the end of life. An interdisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, hospice aides, social workers, chaplains, volunteers and bereavement support staff attend to the medical, emotional, social and spiritual needs of patients and families.

Families have access to a full kitchen, family room, beautifully appointed patient rooms, and all of Saint Mary’s amenities.
