The Critical Care Unit at Saint Mary’s Hospital is a well-equipped, 16-bed medical-surgical unit.  Intensive cardiovascular and respiratory monitoring as well as a flexible nurse-to-patient ratio provide state-of-the-art critical care to the population of the Greater Waterbury Area.

All patients are cared for by medical and surgical residents who are based at Saint Mary’s Hospital and work closely with a faculty of attending physicians and community physicians with support from medical or surgical intensivists.

Saint Mary’s Critical Care Unit is Leapfrog compliant with in-house intensive care and board-certified physicians.  Patients can be assured they will receive the highest quality care if critical care is necessary during their hospitalization.
