The American College of Surgeons honored Dr. Stanley Dudrick, chairman of the Department of Surgery and director, Program in Surgery at Saint Mary’s Hospital, with the 2005 Jacobson Innovation Award. Dr. Dudrick was honored as “one of the forefathers of surgical nutrition in the United States” for pioneering Total  Parenteral Nutrition (TPN), which provides life-saving nutrients to patients who are unable to eat due to surgery or certain illnesses.
