Saint Mary’s has 10 surgical suites including a state-of-the-art Open Heart unit and the daVinci® Robotic Surgical System installed in February 2010.
To develop nurses with an interest in perioperative nursing Saint Mary’s allocates Student Nurse Internships each summer for RN students in an accredited ADN or BSN program who have completed their first round of clinical.
New Grad RN’s with previous experience as a Surgical Tech or who have completed a Student Nurse Internship in the OR will be considered for a one year program in OR nursing which includes an on-line program through Charter Oak College and a dynamic clinical practicum taught by our Perioperative Clinical Nurse Educator.
Additionally our Naugatuck Valley Surgical Center on Robbins Street in Waterbury operates 7 surgical suites in a patient oriented, state-of-the-art outpatient ambulatory surgery facility.
