Many people are unaware of the diverse employment opportunities in the hospital setting. Generally people associate Nurses, Doctors and various Allied Health Professionals with hospitals, but there are many more types of jobs required to operate our hospital and all of them are mission critical. Actually, with 1850 staff members Saint Mary’s is much like a small town.
At Saint Mary’s we have our own Security force, employ Food & Nutrition and Environmental Services workers, as well as a full spectrum of licensed trades’ people including HVAC, Plumbers, Electricians and Plant Technicians. We also have opportunities in areas such as finance, patient financial services, patient registration, patient transport and medical records.

Environmental Services: We look for individuals who have some experience in housekeeping using industrial-type cleaning chemicals, are familiar with infection control guidelines and are customer-service oriented. We look for people with experience in the food service industry preferably in a hospital, short or long term care facility, and who have excellent customer service skills. Patient Access Representatives: Individuals hired for this job have experience working in a customer service department and are responsible for providing a friendly environment for the patient. They must have the ability to do patient registration to facilitate processing of bills to insurance providers and assist with collecting payments. They must have the ability to explain the process to the patient in an easy to understand manner. Clerical Coordinator:Our clerical coordinators work in the nursing station of our patient units – they must enjoy working in an environment that is fast paced and demanding and be able to take multi-tasking to the “next level”. We look for individuals with strong clerical skills, preferably with experience working in a busy healthcare setting. They must be well organized and detail oriented. Also needed are irreproachable customer service skills to effectively interact with patients, family and visitors, as well with staff at all levels including physicians, physician assistants, residents, interns, students, nurses and nurse aides. Transport Aide: These people assist in transporting patients from one department to another throughout the Hospital and help get patients to their vehicles when they are discharged from the Hospital.
