Caring for the Uninsured

Saint Mary’s Children’s and Family Health Center administers $300,000 worth of free routine childhood vaccinations annually, provided by the Connecticut Department of Public Health, to children who are uninsured or have Medicaid insurance.

In 2007, the Children’s and Family Health Center helped 4,420 uninsured patients fill out forms for public programs that provide food and heat. Financial counselors helped 3,896 people enroll in state assistance programs, Medicaid and Medicare. Vouchers were provided for 118 people who had no transportation home after being discharged. Additional services provide for those who have no access to care or medications.
