Nicos Lopez and Joshua Royer, students at Waterbury Arts Magnet School, participated in a Teen Grief Program led by Mary Ann Rourke, pediatric social worker, of Saint Mary’s Children’s and Family Health Center.
Saint Mary’s facilitates many support groups, including a unique one for teens coping with the death of a family member or friend. The Teen Grief Support Group provides confidential bereavement support for students in local middle and high schools and is funded by an $8,000 grant from the J. Walton Bissell Foundation.
