Within the Department of Emergency Services, Saint Mary's Hospital sponsors 15 different organizations and departments throughout the Waterbury area. Dr. Peter Jacoby, chairman, Emergency Services at Saint Mary's, oversees these services and their employees and members as the medical director. Peter Kaminski and Doug Ferkol, EMT-Paramedics, are Saint Mary's EMS Coordinators and function as the liaisons between the EMS providers and the Hospital. Saint Mary's trained more than 500 pre-hospital providers, MRT's (Medical Response Technicians), EMT's (Emergency Medical Technicians), EMT-Intermediates and EMT-Paramedics over the past year.
