Alternatives in Childbirth

An Educational Program, in partnership with Birth Partners LLC

Geared toward those who want or are considering a “lower-tech” or unmedicated birth experience, these comprehensive classes are appropriate for those birthing in the Women and Infants Center or The Birthplace.

Focusing on each individual’s needs & desires for birth, not on a specific "method", classes include an in depth discussion of:

• Prenatal nutrition & exercise

• The natural process of labor and evaluating its progress

• Timing your arrival at your birth place

• Relaxation techniques and “coaching”

• Coping with pain and fear of pain

• Overcoming cultural messages

• The emotional & physical aspects of labor, including stages of labor

• Birth options, including discussions of water-birth or water for comfort

• Hospital and Birthplace protocols and procedures

Please register early as class size is limited and preregistration is required.
