The caring team at Saint Mary’s Hospital is here to provide you and your family members with support and assistance. The following services are offered to meet your needs, so that every patient receives exceptional care every day.
Patient Financial Assistance
Saint Mary’s Hospital provides financial assistance to patients who qualify for Bed Funds or any of our other financial assistance programs.
If you are uninsured, or otherwise unable to pay all or part of your medical bills, you may qualify for the hospital’s financial assistance. In order for you to qualify you must meet the following criteria:
- You must be liable for one or more hospital charges due to Saint Mary’s Hospital.
- You must provide proof that you applied, and were denied medical or health coverage under the Affordable Care Act or Medicaid program, due to failure to meet income or other eligibility guidelines.
- You must not be eligible to have your medical bills paid by any other third party payor, including, but not limited to, Medicare, Tricare, private health insurance, workers’ compensation or motor vehicle insurance.
- Your household income must be at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Limits.
If you qualify for “Free Bed Fund”, or any of our other financial assistance programs, you will be notified within thirty (30) days of receipt of your application. If your application is denied, an explanation will be provided. You may reapply at any time and your application will be reassessed based on the availability of additional funds or a change in your financial status.
If you would like to know if you qualify for one of these programs, please ask to speak to one of our Financial Counselors or you can call (203) 709-3772. Our office hours are Monday – Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Help Navigating the Campus
If you have difficulty walking, we encourage you to utilize our valet parking at the hospital’s main entrance (56 Franklin Street). Upon entering the lobby and approaching the main desk, our knowledgeable and friendly Patient Access staff will help you reach your destination. For more information on getting to the hospital, please visit the Directions page.
Patients and visitors who park in the Visitors Parking Garage may take the elevator to the third floor of the Medical Office Building. From the crossover bridge, you will enter the hospital on the second floor. If you are having surgery or other types of procedures such as a cardiac catheterization, gastroenterology or an interventional radiology procedure, you may be instructed to proceed to the second floor Admitting Office, located directly across from the three O’Brien elevators. There, a friendly member of our staff will help you check in or assist you with any additional concerns.
Patients who are arriving at the hospital for pre-admission testing or non-surgical procedures may be directed to the Patient Registration and Testing Center on the first floor. Take the O’Brien elevators to the first floor and turn left. The center is located just off the Main Lobby to the left.
Just off the main lobby, you will find campus maps, and throughout the hospital you will notice overhead signs and directories alerting you to building and unit names.
If you are unable to speak English, Saint Mary’s offers language interpretation services. Throughout the hospital, special phones are available to contact medical interpreters with experience in over 200 languages. A member of your Saint Mary’s care team will be happy to assist you with this service. Read the full “Notice to Our Patients-Free Language Service” here.
Assistance for Hearing Impairment
For patients with hearing impairment, we offer interpreting services through FSW. Please inform a member of your Saint Mary’s care team if you have difficult hearing, and they will be sure you receive the assistance you need. Read the full “Notice to Our Patients-Free Language Service” here.
