Saint Mary's CME Mission Statement
The mission of the Saint Mary's Hospital Committee on Continuing Medical Education is to advocate and support the continuing professional development of health care professionals through evidence-based programs that enhance the practitioner's knowledge base and expand professional skills.
The target audience of Saint Mary's Committee on CME includes the range of the medical professionals, from full-time practitioners to academic physicians with interests in research and teaching as well as resident physicians, and medical students.
The activities sponsored by SMH include primary care, specialty, and subspecialty topics in the field of medicine. The scope of these activities involves the body of knowledge and skills generally recognized and accepted by the profession as within the basic medical sciences, the discipline of clinical medicine, and the provision of health care to the public.
The Saint Mary’s Hospital CME Committee provides content and material tailored to complement the participant's needs and schedule through the following educational activities: conferences, workshops, and enduring materials. Content is based on evidence and changes according to ongoing needs as determined by SMH faculty, Quality Care Committee, licensure requirements, and patient safety initiatives. Additionally Joint Commission initiatives, guidelines, standards of care, and clinical studies and in addition the State of Connecticut mandated topics.
