  • Pediatrics

Saint Mary’s has a special commitment to the health and wellbeing of the youngest members of our community. Our caring, trusted team offers a range of family-centered pediatric services dedicated to keeping your children healthy.

Pediatric Emergency Services

Each year, the Emergency Department at Saint Mary’s Hospital provides expert, compassionate emergency medical care to more than 23,000 children. Our pediatric emergency unit is the only one in the region, and is staffed by three exceptional board-certified pediatric emergency physicians. They're experts in caring for children, from newborns to teens, and they’re here when you and your child needs us—day or night.

Our pediatric emergency unit features a quiet waiting area separate from the main Emergency Department and pediatric treatment rooms designed to keep you and your child comfortable.

Saint Mary’s is designated as a Level II Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma. We’re also part of the Greater Waterbury emergency medical services (EMS) response network, and we’ve trained more than 500 pre-hospital providers from 15 different organizations throughout our area. When you call 911 for pediatric emergency assistance, our connections help us start your treatment as soon as the EMS team arrives.

Saint Mary’s is dedicated to keeping families well. That is why the Children’s Health Center offers a variety of medical services for children. These programs are open to everyone, regardless of income status.

Routine care isn’t necessarily routine for children. Doctors and hospitals can be scary. At Saint Mary’s Children’s Health Center, our skilled nursing staff and doctors are always ready with kind words, gentle hands, and friendly smiles. We know your children need the same kinds of medical services you do, only in a different way.

The Children’s Health Center offers a full range of primary care services, including school and sports physicals, immunizations, vision and hearing screening, lead screening, and specialty clinical services, including dermatology and cardiology. We also offer check-ups for children from birth to age 17.
