Our NeuroICU: Advanced Care, Here in Waterbury

Our state-of-the-art NeuroICU allows trauma, stroke and cancer patients, as well as patients with other complex neurospine needs, to receive the highest level of care right here in Saint Mary's Hospital.

With the assistance of new technology, as well as the use of
neuro-navigation software, our highly trained staff, including our neurosurgeons and surgical critical care teams, work as a unit to care for our patients and keep them close to their families, regular physicians and support system when they are critically ill.

In a recent interview, Dr. David Forshaw, a neurosurgeon who works within the NeuroICU, said "Our use of technology makes Saint Mary's one of the best neurospine centers in the region."

Saint Mary’s recently acquired a new O-Arm® Surgical Imaging System, which allows your neurosurgeon to receive 360-degree images in real time during brain and spine surgeries. Watch this recent profile by local news show Connecticut Style to learn more about the O-Arm and hear the story of a patient who said the procedure changed her life.

Saint Mary’s is one of only four hospitals in Connecticut to have this technology, which offers faster, easier and safer surgeries that help you return to your daily life sooner. That’s our goal.
