Why Should I Choose Saint Mary's for My Surgery?

Understanding the da Vinci Surgical System

Saint Mary’s adopted the da Vinci Surgical System® because it is the only technology of its kind, and it has revolutionized today’s surgical practices. It has modernized surgical technique with features that promote enhanced navigational opportunities, high-resolution imaging and visualization, and exceptional geometric accuracy. With this advanced technology, Saint Mary’s highly skilled surgeons are able to use their own hands to guide the da Vinci robotic surgical tools through tiny incisions.

The Latest Technology

“I am in surgical equipment sales and am familiar with most of the hospitals and surgeons in Connecticut. When I learned I needed to have my gallbladder removed, I immediately chose Dr. Philip Corvo and Saint Mary's Hospital for my surgery. Dr Corvo used the new Single Site and FireFly techniques for my surgery. I only have one tiny scar inside my bellybutton.” –LS

Our skilled surgeons operate the da Vinci® Si Surgical System, a robotic-assisted surgical tool with a full range of high-tech features to offer you the best possible outcomes, particularly in urologic surgery, gynecological surgery and general surgery.

Saint Mary’s is one of only a few hospitals in Connecticut to use single-incision gallbladder surgery, and Firefly fluorescence imaging technology for colorectal surgery, which works seamlessly with the da Vinci Surgical System to provide real time, image-guided, images that are typically invisible to other surgeons.

Several of Saint Mary’s surgeons are also robotic surgery instructors. Surgeons from other hospitals come to Saint Mary’s to learn how to operate using the da Vinci robot, and our surgeons also go to other hospitals to train their surgeons.
