Are You a Candidate for Weight Loss Surgery?

You may be a candidate for weight loss surgery at Saint Mary’s, if you meet the following National Institutes of Health criteria:

  • You are between the ages of 18 and 65. (Those under 18 and over 65 can be discussed on an individual basis.)
  • You have been overweight for more than 5 years.
  • Have a BMI over 40kg/m2 or a BMI under 35kg/m2 with other medical conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, or difficulty sleeping.
  • You have failed previous weight loss attempts.
  • You are committed to the lifestyle change associated with weight loss surgery.
  • You are willing to follow the dietary guidelines after surgery.

Which Procedure Is Right for You?
