Free Mammograms and Early Detection

Early screening saves lives. Through our participation in the Connecticut Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program, Saint Mary’s is the only hospital in Waterbury to offer free mammograms, breast ultrasounds and additional diagnostic testing are offered to women who:

  • Are 40 years old or over
  • Or age 35 to 39 with symptoms and/or specific risk factors for breast cancer
  • Have no health insurance or have health insurance that does not cover a mammogram.
  • Have a high insurance deductible or no Medicare Part B
  • Have limited income

Additional funding for free mammograms for uninsured women in our community is provided by Saint Mary’s annual Dorothy Hamill Women Fore Women Golf Tournament, which has raised $350,000 for the Breast Screening Fund at Saint Mary’s Hospital. With the generous support of event participants, sponsors and donors, the fund provided hundreds of diagnostic screenings for women in Greater Waterbury who would otherwise not have access to care.

Find out more about these free screenings at 203-709-3812.
