Perinatology & High Risk Pregnancy

During your pregnancy, your obstetrician may recommend special care, including a more detailed ultrasound, for a variety of reasons. Pre-pregnancy or perinatal diabetes (gestational diabetes), recurrent miscarriage, pre-term labor and other conditions may require a consultation from a maternal-fetal medicine specialist, or perinatologist, an obstetrician who has completed specialized training in the management of high-risk pregnancies.

The Perinatology Program at Saint Mary’s Hospital combines advanced ultrasound technology with 4-D capability and the expertise of specialists in maternal-fetal medicine from Yale-New Haven Hospital, who have been affiliated with Saint Mary’s since 2004.

Level II ultrasounds are scheduled in a private suite in the Women and Infants Center at Saint Mary’s Hospital. The service offers you access to a higher level of maternity care without having to leave your own community.
