Relocation Assistance

Relocation will only be offered to those candidates moving to the greater Waterbury area from outside of CT and more than 50 miles from Saint Mary’s.

Relocation will be offered to candidates who have signed and returned an offer letter and will not be paid until after their employment has commenced. All relocation expenses will require the presentation of original supporting documents.

Payment may not exceed $5,000.00. In the case of Canadian or other foreign nationals reimbursement may not exceed $4,000.00. Reimbursement will be limited to:

  • One interview trip for the employee and one house hunting trip for the employee and spouse not to exceed a total of 5 days.
  • Actual cost of shipping /trucking of personal belongings and household goods or the cost of truck rental from home location to CT.
  • If renting an apartment, condo or house, a security deposit equal to one months rent and not to exceed $1,000.00
  • If purchasing a condo or house reimbursement of closing costs up to $1,000.00

Other Provisions

  • Expenses of the employee and/or their immediate family incurred after arriving in the Waterbury area are the responsibility of the employee.
  • All documents must be submitted within 30 days of the employees start date and must be accompanied by a signed copy of the relocation agreement.
  • All relocation reimbursements will be reported on the employee’s W2. Expenses considered qualified by the IRS will be shown as pre-tax income.

Repayment of Relocation Assistance

  • Should an employee for whom relocation assistance is provided not be employed by his or her own choice, for a period of at least two years, repayment based on the following schedule will be required.

    1. 100 % if employed less than 6 months
    2. 75 % if employed at least 6 months but less than 12 months
    3. 50 % if employed at least 12 months but less than 18 months
    4. 25 % if employed at least 18 months, but less than 24 months.
