RN Refresher Course Assistance

Saint Mary’s provides RN Refresher Course assistance of up to $1,800 to inactive Registered Nurses who wish to return to the practice of nursing in bedside staff positions according to the guidelines below.
Candidates for this assistance must:
- Be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Hold a current CT State RN license.
- Have been absent from acute care practice for three or more years.
- Apply, interview, be offered a nursing position, fulfill all pre-employment background check and Occupational Health clearance requirements, and accept the job offer by signing and returning our offer of employment letter.
- Successfully complete the first two course modules within six months and successfully complete the clinical practicum at Saint Mary’s Hospital.
- Commit to working a regular schedule of at least 20 hours per week for a minimum of a two-year period at Saint Mary’s Hospital.
- Employment is contingent, in part, on the successful completion of the entire program.
Repayment of refresher course assistance

In the event an RN receives payment for refresher course fees and leaves Saint Mary’s, by choice or termination for cause, prior to fulfilling the employment commitment of working at least 20 hours per week for a minimum two-years they are responsible for repayment of the monies received based on the following schedule:
- 100 % if employed less than 6 months
- 75 % if employed at least 6 months but less than 12 months
- 50 % if employed at least 12 months but less than 18 months
- 25 % if employed at least 18 months, but less than 24 months
